Description

The Canadian Coast Guard and Atlantic Pilotage Authority will continue testing indefinitely virtual and synthetic AIS aids to navigation in Halifax harbour, from two locations:

1) A synthetic AIS AtoN atop the current fixed aid at Oceanographic Wharf, Bedford basin, 44 40 50.7905N 063 36 50.9277W; and
2) Four virtual AIS AtoNs located at: 44 33 35.960N 063 30 39.040W; 44 30 20.958N 063 30 18.062W; 44 33 05.961N 063 30 39.040W; 44 33 20.960N 063 31 00.018W. The diamond pattern is oriented true North and the distance between cardinal points is 0.5 NM.

Test AIS are not intended to be used for navigation.
Information on AIS is provided in Notice to Mariners 819(T)/2016.
Mariners are requested to provide feedback on this AIS test bed to Halifax MCTS Centre.
