The Canadian Coast Guard and Atlantic Pilotage Authority will continue testing indefinitely virtual and synthetic AIS aids to navigation in Halifax harbour, from two locations:1) A synthetic AIS AtoN atop the current fixed aid at Oceanographic Wharf, Bedford basin, 44 40 50.7905N 063 36 50.9277W; and2) Four virtual AIS AtoNs located at: 44 33 35.960N 063 30 39.040W; 44 30 20.958N 063 30 18.062W; 44 33 05.961N 063 30 39.040W; 44 33 20.960N 063 31 00.018W. The diamond pattern is oriented true North and the distance between cardinal points is 0.5 NM.Test AIS are not intended to be used for navigation. A 2017 sounding survey of Dalhousie channel was conducted by Public Works & Government Services Canada. It was compared to Canadian Hydrographic chart 4426. A sounding survey of Fox Dens gully was completed by Public Works and Government Services Canada on August 10, 2017.The Fox Dens gully buoyed channel has a limiting depth of 0.5 metres between psn 47 53 07.3N 64 29 45.0W and 47 53 07.3N 64 30 12.5W. Mariners should navigate with extreme caution in this area.Note that the limiting depth is below CHS chart datum and horizontal positions are based on NAD83.
